What Can I Eat To Get Rid Of Acne

As a fourteen year old boy I had more than my fair share of problems with acne and had a face which resembled the surface of the moon. Of course everyone said that it was quite normal at my age and was nothing to worry about, but I felt very embarrassed by my appearance and for a while didn't even want to go out of the house.

My friend, most of whom were other boys at that age didn't care at all about how I looked and they simply wanted me to hang out with them, play video games, ride our bikes and kick a ball around. However, since I was also begin to notice the girls in my neighborhood this was small comfort.

Naturally I tried to do something to get rid of my acne and initially I tried a variety of different cleansers which only seemed to make things worse turning my skin red, drying it out and finally causing it to peel. Finally, I managed to persuade my mom to take me to the doctor who simply took one look at me and wrote out a prescription for some acne cream to be applied morning and night. I was nevertheless happy and rushed home to try it out. It worked! Or at least it worked for a few days and then it too began to irritate my skin and my acne problems came back again worse than ever.

At this point I ran into one of our neighbors who as it happens was a nutritionist and she told me that, while food almost certainly was not the cause of my problem, it could be the solution at least in part. At fourteen this was something I had never even thought about but, desperate as I was, I thought I would give it a go and, on here advice, cut out all the fatty foods I had been eating and started eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.

At first nothing seemed to happen but she said that acne was not a condition that would clear up overnight and that I would need to stick with my new diet for two or three months before I saw any results but that, if I did so, the wait would be well worth it. So I followed her advice and sure enough it worked.

So, if your acne is making you miserable and you want to clear it up you too might like to try a healthy, balanced low fat diet which includes plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. It's certainly worth a try!
