Are There Vitamins That Can Cure Acne?

We all know that the body needs the right balance of vitamins and minerals in order to remain healthy and to function efficiently and much has been published about the importance of eating a balance diet in order to ensure that our bodies get the necessary range and quantity of vitamins and minerals each day. Surprisingly enough however we tend to forget that our represents the body's largest organ and it too needs to be fed with the right balance of vitamins and minerals.

In general therefore ensuring the correct intake of vitamins will help to keep your skin healthy and both help to prevent acne spots from developing in the first place and assist in clearing them when they do arrive.

When it come to specific vitamins which can help to cure acne then one vitamin - vitamin A - can be especially helpful.

Vitamin A is a powerful antioxidant which helps to rid the body of toxins and it also helps to reduce the production of sebum, which is the skin oil which builds up in blocked pores in part resulting in acne spots. In addition, vitamin A strengths the skin and helps in the repair of skin tissue. A deficiency of vitamin A can result in otherwise 'dormant' acne spots appearing on the surface of the skin.

One common topical prescription treatment for acne is Retin-A (tretinoin) which is derived from vitamin A and which acts to exfoliate the skin and reduce the build-up of dead tissue in the skin follicles.

This is one solution but it is certainly not the best solution and without doubt a proactive acne cream treatment should be your first line of attack. Read more
