Try Using Steam For Acne

If you are anything like me then when someone mentions using steam to clear acne then you conjure up a picture of trying to steam clean your face in the same way that you might steam clean your curtains which sounds pretty painful.

Of course that's not what we're talking about here and using stream, such as a steam bath or steam facial, can be extremely effective for many people suffering from mild to moderate acne. In cases of severe acne however you need to proceed with care as steam treatments could make your condition worse.

Acne is to a large extent a bacterial infection which causes inflammation when the bacteria are trapped in the blocked pores of your skin. Using a facial steam or a steam room woks therefore by opening up those blocked pores and flushing them out with sweat. In addition, it also improved your circulation and thus brings oxygenated and nutrient rich blood to feed the surface of your skin.

So, using a steam bath, or having a facial steam treatment, on a regular basis may well help to clear your acne. Remember though to take a good shower after your steam bath, or to wash your face immediately after a steam facial, to make sure that you wash off all of the bacteria, dead skin and excess oil flushed out so that it does not simply settle back into your skin pores again.
